virtues, “meet him” in the palace of glory, and enjoy him forever in eternity. Therefore Christ, the Master of truth, says: “See, the bridegroom is coming. Go out to meet him.” Through these words Christ our Lover teaches us four things. First of all he gives a command, when he says, “See.” Those who remain blind and ignore this command are all damned. Secondly, he reveals to us what we are to see, namely, the coming of the Bridegroom. Thirdly, he tells us what we are to do, when he says, “Go out.”
