From our cursory study of the three titles “Christ,” “Son of Man,” and “Son of David,” we have found more than ample reason to conclude that Jesus claimed, in fact, to be the Messiah that the Old Testament had foretold. We noted that Jesus did not himself directly appeal with any frequency to the titles “Christ” or “Son of David” to describe himself in his role of Messiah (though he accepted these titles in direct address from others upon occasion).
