☐ Closing Greetings (5:12–14) Just as there was an accepted pattern for the beginning of a letter in New Testament times, so too there was a customary way of concluding, once the body of the letter was complete. Christian writers followed the general pattern but gave it a fresh Christian character. Naturally this included greetings to the writer’s friends and also from other persons associated with him.
