1950s or in the ’60s that stayed at number one for weeks and then dropped from the charts, but they are still part of the music we call the “golden oldies.” There are other songs that reach the top of the charts for six weeks and drop completely out of sight and mind, so that people today have never heard of them. The compositions being created today will all go through this sifting process of time. Some will vanish, but others have the majestic measure of beauty that will keep them around for years.
