Also, always keep in mind the Davidic covenant promises that made more specific the kingdom hopes of a royal deliverer and new covenant Mediator that Moses initially proclaimed (e.g., Gen. 3:15; 22:17b–18; 49:8–10; Num. 24:17–19; Deut. 18:15–18 with 34:10–12). God’s prophets were covenant enforcers, and we have to read their words in light of the Mosaic and Davidic covenants, among others. They had their Bibles open when they were preaching, and so should we.
