The unbeliever or worldly person may call him God, Creator, or Almighty, but not Father. In instructing his disciples to address God as Father, Jesus gave them a new revelation. The Hebrews had always known him as the Eternal One, Creator, Supreme Ruler, the God of Battles, or the Captain of the Armies of Heaven. But this instruction to address him as Our Father in heaven took them into a new world. This intimate and affectionate title brings him close to us. The name Jehovah carries majesty in it.
