remember God’s great salvation for them from Egypt (Exod. 12:42; 13:10). They were instructed “to keep” the covenants the Lord made with them (Exod. 19:5) and the commandments and stipulations in those covenants (Exod. 20:6; Lev. 18:5). If God’s people did this, the High Priest prayed that the Lord would, therefore, bless and “keep,” shamar, His people (Num. 6:24).
