Hebrew does not have a word to express the English word “have” or “had,” but there are various ways to show possession. I. PRONOMINAL SUFFIXES As pointed out in an earlier lesson a personal pronoun can show possession (e.g., אָבִי “my father”; בְּנוֹ “his son”; בִּתְּךָ “your daughter”). II. GENITIVE CASE A statement of possession can be denoted by a noun in a genitive relationship with another noun (e.g., סוּס־הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ “the horse of the king”; דְּבַר־הַנָּבִיא “the
