A lexicon is very similar to our English dictionary, only it generally provides much more information. Hebrew words often have a variety of meanings and the Hebrew lexicon is useful for determining the various meanings of a word: Example: אָב 1) It is used about 1190 times in the Old Testament. 2) It has common roots in several semitic languages, Middle Hebrew, Jewish Aramaic, and Ugaritic. 3) It occurs in Biblical Aramaic (אָב) The New Testament (abba) Jewish Aramaic
