Fientive verbs describe or name the action(s) of the subject, whether the verb is transitive or intransitive. (1) Transitive fientive verbs describe an action that is directed toward an object; the “act” described may be physical or mental (Jg 3:7) וְנָתְנוּ לְךָ שְׁתֵּי־לֶחֶם and they will give you two loaves of bread (1 Sam 10:4) וַיִּשְׁכְּחוּ אֶת־יהוה אֱלהֵֹיהֶם and they forgot YHWH their God (Jg 3:7) וְלֹא־אֶקַּח אֶת־כָּל־הַמַּמְלָכָה מִיָּדוֹ but I will not take the entire kingdom from him
