You might be having a great time, but if nobody understands a word you’re saying, “you will just be speaking into the air” (v 9). So far I have translated glossa with a combination of “language” and “tongue”. Most of our English translations go for “tongues”, but that can sound either old-fashioned or a bit spooky, so I usually prefer “languages”; glossa is the normal word you would use for English, Mandarin, Swahili and so on.
