Other times we may hear the gospel simply represented as the message that God is love. Now, this one is sort of like the Oklahoma newspaper headline that read, “Cold Weather Causes Temperatures to Drop.” It’s not that it’s not true; it’s just that it’s so obvious that something is missing or left out. That “God is love” is certainly true. It’s even in the Bible! “God is love” (1 John 4:8). But there is a danger in simply saying so as if it is self-evident.
