γῆς λογιστέον εἶναι νοῦν εἰσκρινόμενον σώματι, οὔπω δʼ εἰσκεκριμένον ὁ δὲ νοῦς οὗτος γεώδης ἐστὶ τῷ ὄντι καὶ φθαρτός, εἰ μὴ ὁ θεὸς ἐμπνεύσειεν αὐτῷ δύναμιν ἀληθινῆς ζωῆς· τότε γὰρ γίνεται, οὐκέτι πλάττεται, εἰς ψυχήν, οὐκ ἀργὸν καὶ ἀδιατύπωτον, ἀλλʼ εἰς νοερὰν καὶ ζῶσαν ὄντως· “εἰς ψυχὴν” γάρ φησι “ζῶσαν ἐγένετο ὁ ἄνθρωπος”.
