in the Son” (v. 13). Daring prayer and daring action are two sides of the same coin. They are both to be in line with who Jesus is, to be done “in my name.” They are also both to be done for God’s sake, “so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” Later, in chapter 17, as Jesus himself prays for the perfecting of mutual indwelling in trust and love, he sees the disciples too sharing in that glory: “The glory that you have given me I have given them, so that they may be one, as we are one” (17:22).
