The matter of marriage and divorce has become sensitive, emotive, and even controversial. Married couples who experience tension in their relationship need all the help they can get to weather the storms of humanism, selfishness and hedonism, which have all contributed to the havoc which has led to the unfortunate dissolution of far too many marriages. Words in season from every possible source...

But marriage is friendship with a difference. God intends marriage to be life-long (Matthew 19:4–6) ‘until death do us part’ and with one person of the opposite sex (1 Corinthians 7:2) so that we are ‘forsaking all others’. The depth and permanence of marriage demands that, as is said in the marriage vows, this way of life should not be undertaken ‘carelessly, lightly or selfishly but reverently, responsibly and after serious thought’.
