tribes of Judah and Benjamin had formed the kingdom of Judah. Hosea mentions four kings of Judah: Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz and Hezekiah. Uzziah’s (or ‘Azariah’ as he is also known) began reigning alongside his father in about 791 B.C. and Hezekiah died in 687/6. Together that is a period of over one hundred years! So it is likely Hosea started his ministry late in the reign in Uzziah in the south (whose reign ended in 740) and Jeroboam II in the north (whose reign ended in 753) and ended his ministry
