Because of what Jesus did, God looks on me with mercy. It’s my only appeal; it’s the source of my hope; it’s my life. Mercy, mercy me! 1. When you go to God in prayer, do you go as your own defense lawyer or as the guilty party (see Luke 18:9–14)? Do you tend to stack up arguments for your acceptability before God? 2. If you more quickly rested in God’s mercy and, because of this, more readily admitted your sin, what practical changes in your life would result?
