Suffering in Job’s case was followed by renewed health and other blessings. Temporal prosperity was frequent for God’s people in Old Testament days. On the other hand, many of the righteous did not experience long life or riches, just as in New Testament times when the Saviour, Jesus the Christ, died in his thirties. The reasons were such things as God’s will in service that did not amass wealth, loss by invasions that took the godly as well as the ungodly, crime God’s providence permitted, God’s
