On the day of Pentecost (fifty days after the crucifixion and ten days after the ascension), they were rewarded. A sound as of a rushing wind filled the house. On each of the group lighted what appeared to be a tongue of flame. Immediately they were filled with the Spirit and began to speak in other tongues. Rapidly word of this phenomenon spread among Jews gathered for the feast of Pentecost, and a crowd came running to investigate. Upon arrival each heard the message of truth in his own language.
