The fifth major section in the book of Acts (15:35–18:22) describes Paul’s missionary work in Europe, in particular in the Roman provinces of Macedonia and Achaia, focused on five cities: Philippi, Thessalonica, Berea, Athens, and Corinth. In the first major section (1:1–14) Luke had reported Jesus’ exaltation and the commissioning of the Twelve for international missionary work beginning in Jerusalem, continuing in Judea and Samaria, and moving towards the ends
