Elijah’s challenge, ‘Have you murdered, and taken possession as well?’ has a semi-poetic quality in Hebrew and is the more memorable for it. The verb ‘murdered’ is the word used in the sixth commandment (Deut. 5:17). God’s judgment leaves no room for Ahab to shift the blame for Naboth’s death onto Jezebel alone.
