God had acted in history to redeem his people, but he wanted more than redemption for them. God wanted a holy people who stood separate from the world’s evil. He also wanted them to display a positive goodness and righteousness that would shine as a light to those in spiritual darkness around them. In the garden of Eden, sin had corrupted the divine image in man and woman. Now, through his law and his prophets, God showed his people their sin and continued his work to restore holiness and righteousness
