The study of biblical parallelism reached its apogee in the mid-1980s, and waned after that as there was little new to say of a theoretic nature and as the linguistic study of poetry gave way to other approaches to poetry. However, there continued to be what I would call derivative studies, including refinements to the older categories of parallelism (e.g. janus parallelism, metathetic parallelism, and the like) and analyses of parallelism in specific biblical and
