The fact that God regulated divorce implies His permission for certain divorces—one does not regulate that which He forbids (Adams, p. 31). God Himself permitted divorce within certain stringently defined limits. We know from our study of Deuteronomy 24:1–4 that a process is outlined. This process was meant to discourage divorce, not promote it. But it did permit it. Remember that behind every divorce there is human sin. God not only hates divorce; He hates the sin that causes divorce. Not every
