The only biblical reference to Behemoth is Job 40:15 (10), with its attendant description in vv 15–24 (10–19). But even in this case there is no consensus about the nature or even the existence of this being. Behemoth is clearly no ordinary beast: an awesome ox-like being that eats grass but is equally at home in the water as on land, with bones of metal and a tail (or penis?) comparable to a mighty cedar tree.
