Without the Resurrection the Gospel falls flat on the ground, and there is nothing left of the faith. Quite apart from the other disadvantages that come from not knowing of the Resurrection of Christ, the Gospel loses all its authority if we are not certain that Christ is alive and speaks to us from heaven. Luke’s priority here is to make us understand this.
