1. The Culture of Our Time But what do we mean when we speak of the culture of our time? Do we simply mean that as Christians we must be modern and not medieval or ancient in our ways? To be sure, it does mean that we must teach our young people to be modern. It is not Christian to be ancient or medieval in our culture. But to be constructively active in relation to modern culture we must understand the driving motif of modern culture as well as the significance of the work of Christ. Modern culture
