To prove that God exists without knowing anything of his nature is an unintelligible procedure. It would be the equivalent of proving the existence of a zero, the existence of a being who is completely interchangeable with non-being. Then too, Philo does, as a matter of fact, prove something about the nature of God. He proves to us that God is not the kind of God in which the Epicureans believed.
