As a matter of fact the Corinthian disorders did affect, and that very closely, their treatment of the Eucharist, and, therefore, the Epistle designed to correct them is rich beyond all other New Testament writings, save the fourth Gospel, in sacramental teaching. But we must be careful to appreciate justly the language used: and, in order to do so, we must endeavour to place ourselves in the position of the Corinthians, and to understand the Apostle’s words
