Freud became hostile toward religion and labeled it as unhealthy. In a couple of examples here, Freud is quoted as saying, “Religion is comparable to a childhood neurosis.” That comes from his book The Future of an Illusion, published in 1927. And then in his new introductory lectures on psychoanalysis in 1933, he stated, “Religion is an illusion and it derives its strength from the fact that it falls in with our instinctual desires.” Another example, in 1930, again, quoting Freud, “The whole thing
