There seems pretty wide agreement that science does not and cannot answer the big questions. I would argue that science inherently cannot answer them because they are questions about higher-level concepts, concerned with personality and meaning, which science deliberately excludes as part of its methods of investigation. Nevertheless, we often hear evolutionary psychological discussions being put forward as if they are scientific answers to big questions, especially moral questions. They are not.
