Recent generations have seen a proliferation of Christian denominations, sparked by numerous doctrinal divides. Many believe that this fragmentation of Christianity stems, at least in part, from very different answers to some complex and crucial questions: What is the role of canon and community respectively when it comes to the understanding and articulation of doctrine? Should the church be the doctrinal arbiter in the twenty-first century? With regard to both the
