The FCF—the Fallen Condition Focus—is the mutual human condition that contemporary believers share with those for or by whom the text was written that requires the grace of the passage for God’s people to glorify and enjoy Him. What we’re doing is this. We’re looking at the text, and we’re saying not only what facts are here, not only what doctrine is here, not only what duty is here, but what was the reason for this text? Why did the Holy Spirit include it in Scripture? And as we identify that reason,
