and that if we believe not in Jesus Christ we shall die in our sins, it would have us at the same time know that there is no merit in repenting or believing, but grace reigns in God’s acceptance of these graces. We are not to regard the requirement of faith, repentance, and confession of sin as at all militating against the fullness and freeness of divine grace, since, in the first place, both repentance, faith, and true confession of sin are all gifts of grace, and, in the next place, they have no
