This chapter teaches the perseverance of the saints. Perseverance is one trait that counselors frequently must encourage upon their counselees. So it is an important chapter for them. Verses 4 and 5 make it clear that the way in which to bear fruit is to remain attached to the vine. There is no way that a detached branch can bear fruit;
