This attitude prevents some American Christians from recognizing the value of non-American theological contributions, hindering a deep appreciation for our brothers and sisters around the world. The acknowledgment that believers in the Middle East, Europe, Africa, and Asia contended for the faith long before the Americas were even discovered subtly counteracts implicit forms of racism and ethnocentrism.
