We can now gather up the archaeological data discussed above and extract the conclusions they point to for a social history. To write a social history of highland Palestine involves the construction of a narrative. As we have discussed above (see Chapter 2), this is the act of a choice from among various possible narratives that could describe the period. It is a choice both of content and of form.
