charismatic movement spread throughout the world, important ecumenical gatherings became common after the Kansas City conference of 1977. Fast-growing charismatic movements among Catholics and Lutherans in Germany along with booming movements in Ireland and France caused European leaders to call for a continental ecumenical charismatic conference to meet in Strasburg, France, in 1982. More than twenty thousand people attended this conference, which was dubbed “Pentecost Over Europe.” This was followed
