1. Ubi? Where was the letter written? The question cannot be answered. The only possible clue to any answer lies in the words “they of Italy salute you” (13:24). But this furnishes us with no real clue. Οἱ ἀπὸ τῆς Ἰταλίας means simply “the Italians.” The salutation might be sent from any city in the world in which there were Jewish Christians, or even Gentile converts, whose home was or once had been in Italy.
