2) The interpretation of Scripture is not a magical or mysterious process, because Scripture was written in the ordinary language of the day. Sometimes seminary students have a false impression that when they come to seminary they will be given some “secret tools” for getting hidden meaning from the text that other people couldn’t find there. But this is not true, because the Bible was written for ordinary people, and it was written in the ordinary language of the people to whom it was first given.
