Christ of His saving glory. It is a truism that the early church feared heresy more than martyrdom. Solus Christus then is not simply a Reformation era, Protestant slogan. On the contrary, it is the pulse-beat of biblical religion. Peter spoke for the early church when he proclaimed, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). Even more, solus Christus was the compelling pulse-beat of Jesus’s own ministry.
