In approaching the psalm we must begin by acknowledging the change in literary genre from narrative to poetry. Here the narrative storyline modulates into poetic language. The psalm is more than a simple continuation of the narrative. As in other passages of Scripture, the change from narrative to poetry replays the events in a different key.
