Breaking the Missional Code: Your Church Can Become a Missionary in Your Community is unavailable, but you can change that!

Breaking the Missional Code by Ed Stetzer and David Putman is a clarion call for churches in the United States to act among their local communities as missionaries would in a foreign land. For in fact, the message of Jesus Christ is still foreign to many who stand in the shadows of American steeples. As our approach to outreach changes, so can countless lives in our own backyards.

My (Ed’s) own church experience here stands as a painful lesson. The church we planted in Pennsylvania grew rapidly in numbers but not in maturity. We found that our intentional outreach strategy worked, but we had no effective strategy for making disciples. We spent a painful second year fixing our mistakes and moving forward to develop a new strategy that would make disciples. Earlier we mentioned Set Free Church in Yucaipa, California.
