Praying and turning things over in our minds are complementary activities. We are meant to use our God-given faculties to the fullest when we read the Bible. Don’t be put off by parts that are hard to understand. This is the best way to deal with them. Always ask God to send his Holy Spirit to illuminate the passage for you. Write down the Bible reference, and jot down your question. Then ask an experienced Christian, or read a reference book about the passage.
