If there is one thing on which N.T. scholars agree in relation to the kingdom of God, it is that the English word ‘kingdom’ is now an unfortunate attempt to render the Greek Basileiva in this context (even if it was more appropriate in the sixteenth century); a better translation would be ‘reign’ or ‘sovereignty’.
