THE BIRTH OF THE SAVIOR ANNOUNCED Luke 1:26–56; Matthew 1:18–25 Gabriel’s Message to Mary Luke 1:26–33 “In the sixth month” (that is, the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy)—so begins the account before us. In this way Luke connects the announcement made to Zechariah with that about to be made to Mary. It is perfectly fitting to do so, for the two go together. Both are parts of that gospel which tells how God’s Savior came into the world. There are close similarities between the two stories.
