An anointed king was to rule; an anointed priest was to minister; an anointed prophet was to preach. Defined simply as “an anointed one,” messiah is a comprehensive word that applies well to the ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ as the only one identified, qualified, and chosen to be the Savior of sinners.
