I suggest that the same dual emphases continue throughout chs. 4–11. We will see in operation both sin and judgment and grace and promise. Neither the sin of individuals (Cain, Lamech, and Ham) nor of groups (sons of God and daughters of men, the whole earth, and the builders of the city and the tower) eclipses completely the mercy and sovereignty of God.
