The Word and Love The doctrine of the Word and of Love constitutes the heart of Thomas’ trinitarian theology. Its value is shown from the very first article of the Treatise on the Trinity in the Summa Theologiae: to explain faith in the Trinity, one must give an account of immanent processions; for this purpose, in fact, Thomas points out that the best example is the working of the intellect.
