It is possible that God thought it good that there be significantly free creatures—that is, creatures free with respect to morally significant actions—but wasn’t able to create such creatures in such a way that they always exercise their freedom to do good. For if He causes them always to do only what is right, then they don’t do what is right freely. If so, then it is possible, Plantinga argues, that there be evil even though God is omniscient, omnipotent, and wholly good.
